-The Tragedy of Miss Geneva Flowers. Joe Babcock.
That night I laid with Chloe on his futon. We wore only our T-shirts and underwear. He fell asleep right away, but I stayed awake for a long time, thinking about him. He was so close that I could feel the warmth of his body, but I never touched him. I was too afraid of upsetting him and ruining everything. So instead I positioned my hand only an inch or so from him on the mattress, hoping that at some point he’d roll over onto me and we could “accidentally” wind up tangled together. He would enjoy that and realize we were perfect together. But he never budged, and we never touched, the whole night.
